Dear Ronald,  in checking over recent information, I believe that I have
found the name of Carney's father.  His name is Stephen Thomas and this
is all I have -
On page 96 of the History of Coosa Co., A. b Rev. George Brewer, says
Stephen Thomas was killed during the war by a party looking for deserts.
There were several desertes in his house at the time and he was suspected
of harboring them though it was known if he did.  Killing himwas not
perhaps premediated, but it stirred up feelings in Coosa Co. and did not
calm down until the parties that had killed him had left.  Stephen's sons
Calvin and Carney, also lived with stephen at this time but moved
afterward near Rockford. I sure hope this helps you. Evelyn Thomas
