William Young Stone 's WW II service record shows the following: Serial
Number 44 124 062. He was inducted 04 August 1945 at Fort Oglethorp,
GA. He was with the Army of Occupation in the European Theatre.
Discharged with Honorable Discharge 22 January 1947 at Fort Dix, New
Jersey. Rank at discharge was Technical 4th Grade. His job was Motor
Pool Sergeant. He received the Army of Occupation Metal and the WW II
victory medal.
He is a 32 degree Mason and Shriner. He has belonged to Bartlett Lodge
for over 50 years and is Past Master of Bartlett Lodge #697 located in
Bartlett, Tennessee, Past Master of Wilson Lodge #432 in Hardy, Arkansas.
He is a Past Patron, Order of the Eastern Star, Bartlett Chapter #216 and
Ruby Chapter #191 OES, Hardy, Arkansas and will be a 50 year OES member
December 2001. He is a past president and active member of Spring River
Shrine Club, Cherokee Village, Arkansas, a member of Scimitar Temple in
Little Rock, Arkansas. He was District Deputy Grand Master of District
33 of the Grand Lodge of Arkansas in 1998.
He was reared a Baptist and continued in that religion for most of his
adult years. He met and married Gail while actively working in church.
He served as president of the Brotherhood, Training Union Director and
participated in various other church activities. After retirement and a
move to Cherokee Village, Arkansas, he became disillusioned with the
positions taken by the Southern Baptist leadership. He joined Cherokee
Village Methodist Church in 1997.
