Pike CO., AL deed records show Henry Stephenson and wife (Chrystella in
deed) to James M. Barnett on 1/1/1855. Later, in 1880 Grimes CO., TX
there is a John Barnett 33 from Ala with a Wm Youngblood 17 from
Mississippi near Henry, (Chrystella's sister married a Youngblood and
some of the Youngblood family moved to Texas and were in the Steel
industry).
Bureau of Land management shows 2 cash land sales for Henry in Pike CO.,
AL.

In 1860 Henry and his wife Chrystella are found under the spelling of
Stephens on the Pike CO., AL census.

Hallsville was a little settlement about half way between Goshen (then
known as Goshen Hill) and Troy.
On Sept. 6, 1862 Henry enlisted as a private in New Company D, 5th
Alabama Infantry, CSA. He was one of a number of prisoners of war that
were paroled on May 24, 1865 at Montgomery, Alabama.
1880 Census shows Henry in Grimes CO. TX with his second wife Frances,
his son Davis, and his stepson Rufus Bean. No other children are in the
household. He lives next door to a widower John Rollo from Ala with his
sons and a Youngblood (Chrystella Jenerette's sister married into the
Youngblood family). On the other side of him is a John and Liza Ivy from
Alabama.
