A) He worked his way through college as baseball pitcher for the minor
leagues ~1908-1912. B) he was the schoolteacher of his wife [Lela],
sister-in-law [Lillie], sons [Noel and Calvin], and several other
relatives. Parents: Joseph Warren Shoup and Theodocia Louvenia Roberson.
I've been told that schaub is German for a type of farming implement, and
is indeed the source of the name Shoup.
