Thanks for information. I think Elizabeth married James Crawford Lindsay
in LA. I was on 1850 Talbot Co. Geo. census, all came to LA. James
Lindsay bought land in Jackson Parish Jan, 1851.
It appears (no proof) that James Crawford II died at end of Civil War. He
and brother, Matthew, joined the war together May 11, 1862 Monroe, LA
serving in same company. A gr-grand-dau. of Matthew said he and a bro.
were prisoners near New Orleans at end of war. The bro. came home saying
Matthew was unable to travel. Whey they got there to get him he had
already died. Appears James Crawford did too and buried with the rest of
family. There are 3 iron rusted monuments, two larger probably the
parents and one smaller probably his. This is at Sibley Cemetery,
Lincoln Parish. Other members of family buried in same area.
In 1866 Elizabeth sold land in Ouachita Parish, couldn't find her in
Ouachita or Jackson Parish 1870 census. In 1880 census showed her wife
of Lindsy Lack, son Moses 8. Sarah, dau. of Lindsy Lack and James
Crawford (Joseph Crawford) were in household. Sarah and Joseph C about
same age.
Lindsy and Elizabeth apparently died before 1891 as Moses E. Lack sold
his inheritance to Joseph C. VELMA MILLER. 14 Jul 2002
This inf. comes from the Lindsay family Bible. James C. Lindsay born 13
Aug. 1832 married 15 Aug. 1855 to Elizabeth Wilson. They had one son, he
was my great grandfather Joseph Crawford Lindsay born July 10, 1862 and
died June 30, 1934. He married my great grandmother Ludy Ann Woods
12-16-1886. They had a lot of children. My grandmother Cora Adliene
Lindsay Railey was one of their daughters. I talked to my Aunt Velma last
night and she said she thought maybe Elizabeth Wilson Lack maybe be
buried at the Douglas Cem. in Lincoln Parish. She may not have a tomb
stone. This is what I have for the other children of Elizabeth Wilson
Lindsay Lack. Sarah Lack 19 in 1880 and Moses E. Lack age 8 in 1880. This
sounds like a big jump in ages between Sarah and Moses. My great
grandfather James C. Lindsay is also listed in the household with them.
I have him listed as Joseph C. Lindsay, guess he changed his name James
to Joseph. In 1880 Lincoln Parish. Wilson, William T. 1832, Amanda 1837,
Sarah E. 1867, LeRoy 1873, James M. 1875, Jneen V. (hope you can make out
this one) 1878, Cornelia 1879. I don't show in my records of 1900 Lincoln
Parish any Wilsons. We more than likely did not look up the Wilsons.
There is a Jessie Lack listed in the 1900 Lincoln Parish, but not
Elizabeth and her husband and children. If you decided to look at the
Douglas Cem. list, go to Rootsweb and look under Lincoln Parish for
Douglas Cem. By the way the Bible records shows our Thomas Lindsay, Sr.
of Abbeville, Co., S. C. where I submitted the Bible records. This maybe
where Elizabeth Wilson and James C. Lindsay married. I need to
look myself and see what I can find. Thank you again for your help and
yes I would like anything you can pass along. I am in Lincoln Parish and
have heard of Mt. Nebo. Union Parish is a neighbor to us. My aunt said
one of the Wlson women went to school with my mother. My mother went to
school at Downsville where she graduated in 1938. My mother passed away
in 1991. Well, I am learning about our Wilson line and really want to
know more about them. I never know which ones I can tie into with a
family connection. Like I said in my other e-mail I am related to the
Wilsons on my fathers side where they married into our family. I have two
different cousins that married Wilson men. They were my daddys first
cousins. They are all gone now. Have to go and look at my other e-mail.
Take care and write again. Hope this has helped. Linda. 15 Jul 2002
