"Timothy Green, ninety-one years old, and a veteran of the Mexican
War and the War between the States, died at 10 o'clock today at the
Watkins place below Troy after an illness lasting some weeks. He had been
in feeble health for several months
In the Mexican campaign Mr. Green, was one the American Soldiers who
entered the halls of Montezuma.
Mr. Green, was made a Mason more thatn sixty years ago in Georgia. He
was the oldest Mason in this section of the country.
He was a good citizen and a good man, rearing a large and splendid
family. His character was one worthy of emulation.
The funeral will occur tomorrow at the Watkins place at 10 o'clock,
and the funeral services will be conducted by Dr. R. J. Bateman, of the
First Baptist Church.
The burial will occur at Oakwood Cemetery here about 1 or 1:30
o'clock.
The death of this splendid man will bring sorrow to many hearts."
