FULLER family of Crenshaw Co., AL
In 1840, Henry FULLER and his presumed father-in-law Samuel RIALS appear
in almost consecutive households in the federal census of Lowndes Co.,
AL, on page 256. In neighboring Butler Co., Warren FULLER appears on
page 145 with his wife and two young daughters. Joseph FULLER has not
been found in AL in the 1840 federal census; in the 1870 census, his son
Joseph Crawford FULLER (b. ca 1836) gave his birthplace as SC--it is
possible that Joseph and Clarissa may have been in SC in 1840.
The 1850 state census of Butler Co., AL (page 2) lists the families of
Warren FULLER, Henry C. FULLER, and Joseph FULLER on the same page. For
some reason, only Warren is found in the 1850 federal census of Butler
Co.; apparently Henry C. and Joseph were omitted.
It is quite probable that these three were very closely related, if not
brothers. Joseph and Warren both named sons "Abner Travis." Joseph's
son Abner Travis married Henry C.'s daughter Elizabeth Jane (and their
eldest son was named Henry Crawford, which may indicate that Henry C.'s
middle name was Crawford). Henry C., Warren, and Joseph each owned land
near the "Fuller's Crossroads" community in Butler (later Crenshaw) Co.,
AL, and were very close neighbors.
This website suggests some possible connections:

Among the FULLER family outlined on that website is Thomas FULLER, b.
1794 Columbia County, Georgia; d. January 30, 1861, Butler County,
Alabama, who was a son of Abner FULLER. This Thomas FULLER applied for a
pension in Butler Co., AL on 19 Dec 1850, when he stated that he was 56
years old, that he was a veteran of the War of 1812, having substituted
for Abner FULLER, and that he also served in the Seminole Wars, as a sub
for Andrew McLEAN. Records indicate that he served from 27 Sep 1814
until 2 Mar 1815 in Capt. Thomas D. CARR's Company of the GA Militia. On
1 May 1878, Thomas's widow Hulda Ann FULLER (age 46) stated that he
enlisted for the War of 1812 in Columbia Co., GA, that she married him as
Hulda Ann BELL in Butler Co., AL on 11 Oct 1857, that he had a former
wife named Sarah, that he resided since his discharge in Columbia Co., GA
and Butler Co., AL, and that he died in January 1861 [with Thomas (age
56, b. GA) in the 1850 census was an "Elizabeth" (age 62), but she may or
may not have been his wife].
It remains to be seen whether there is any connection between the fact
that this Butler Co., AL resident Thomas FULLER's father was Abner
FULLER and the fact that other 1850 Butler Co., AL residents Joseph and
Warren FULLER both named sons Abner FULLER.
Also, note that one Elizabeth FULLER purchased land in Butler Co.
adjoining that of Henry C. FULLER on 23 Aug 1852. Other than the
Elizabeth (b. ca 1788 NC) living with Thomas FULLER in 1850, the only
other Elizabeth FULLER we know of who was an adult at that time was
Elizabeth, wife of Warren FULLER. Warren purchased land as late as 17
June 1856 and appears in the 1860 census, so his wife would probably not
have been buying land in her own name in 1852. Who was this other
Elizabeth? Could she be the widowed mother of Joseph, Warren, and Henry
C.?
