HE WOULD GO ABOUT THE COUNTY SIDE TREATING SICK PEOPLE WITH HIS "TEAS" THAT WERE "BREWED" FROM HERBS. HE DIED ONE NIGHT DURING A SEVERE SNOW AND ICE STORM- A FREEZING NIGHT. RESIDENTS IN THE AREA SAY THAT THE CHIMNEY FELL OFF THE HOUSE THE NIGHT WILLIAM DIED AND THAT THOSE WHO WERE SITTING UP WITH HIS CORPSE, PUT OUT THE FIRE IN THE FIEPLACE - AND BUILT A FIRE OUTSIDE TO KEEP WARM. WHEN HE WAS BURIED , IT WAS STILL SO COLD THAT FIRES HAD TO BE BUILT ON TOP OF THE GROUND TO THAW OUT THE GROUND BEFORE THE GRAVE COULD BE DUG. THER WERE NO WOMEN AT THE FUNERAL BECAUSE OF THE EXTREMELY COLD WEATHER. A RESIDENT- A MR. HAGAN OF THE SAME COMMUNITY WHO HAD A CHILD BORN THE SAME NIGHT OF WILLIAM EDWARDS'S DEATH, NAMED HIS CHILD, WILLIE SNOW HAGAN. THE CRAWFORD HAYES LIVED IN THIS HOUSE AT A LATER DATE.
