ROBERT (DE WELLE), LORD WELLES, son and heir, was born 1 January 1296/7 at Blatherwycke and baptised in the church of the Holy Trinity there. He succeeded his grandmother, Isabel [de Periton, wife of Robert de Welle], shortly before 5 January 1314/5; was given seisin of his lands, 9 February 1318/9; was summoned against the Scots, 1319; and served at the siege of Berwick, August-September 1319.
