John Le Strange, who, upon paying for his relief, had livery thereof. This feudal Lord in 14th of Edward I (1272-1307) 1286, answered for 300 marks to the King, which sum his grandfather, John le Strange, had borrowed from the Cheshire men to maintain the wars of Wales. He was subsequently engaged in the wars in Gascony and Scotland, and for his good services he was summoned to Parliament as Baron Strange of Knockyn from December 29, 1299, to December 12, 1309, and likewise made Knight of the Bath. His lordship married Maud (Matilda), daughter and heir of Ebulo de Montibus, Lord of Kitton, and had John, his successor, Ebulo and Hamon.
