Simon II De was born about 1098 in Northamptonshire, England. Simon II De's father was Simon I De St. Liz Earl Huntington & Northampton/Saint Senlis and his mother was Matilda Huntingdon [Queen Scotland]. His maternal grandparents were Waltheof II Earl Of Huntingdon & Waltheof 1St Earl Of Northumberland and [Countess] Judith Of Lens [Countess]. He had a brother and three sisters, named Waltheof De, Maud Matilda, Adelicia De and Maud. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Child Prince Of, Henry Earl Of, Malcolm Prince Of, David Earl Of, Claricia Princess Of and Hodierna Princess Of. He died in August 1153 in Huntington, Huntingdonshire, England. He was buried in Saint Andrews.General Notes
on the history of the Earldom of Huntingdon:
After Earl Simon's [Matilda's 1st husband] death, his Widow married David I of Scotland, who consequently became Earl of Huntingdon too, keeping the Earldom even after he succeeded his brother as King of Scots. He sided with the Empress Maud against Stephen I but came to terms with the latter and made the Earldom over to his son Henry. Henry swore fealty to Stephen but subsequently fought against him under the Scottish banner, which may account for Simon de St Liz's son, another Simon, being recognized as Earl of Huntingdon before Henry's death in 1152.
