Maurice, feudal Lord of Prendergast, Pembs, one of the Cambro-Norman knights who went to Ireland with Strongbow [Richard de Clare], Earl of Pembroke in 1169 and acquiring much land there; gave Prendergast Castle to the Knights of St John of Jersalem in 1177 and eventually joined that order; Prior Kilmainham.
