BARONY of FELTON (III)
SIR HAMON DE FELTON, of Litcham, son and heir. He was knighted before 6 September 1340. Knight of the Shire for Norfolk, 1376/7 and 1377. The name of his 1st wife is unknown. He married, 2ndly, in or before November 1367, Margaret, widow of Sir Williarn DE KERDESTONE, of Kerdiston, Norfolk, Bulcamp, Suffolk, &c. [2nd Lord Kerdiston who died 14 August 1361). She died 25 March 1368. He died s.p.m. in 1379.
His heir was his daughter Mary, who married John Breton, of Witchingham, Norfolk, by whom she had two daughters and coheirs. (1) Cecily, who married, 1stly, Thomas Gardiner (son and heir apparent of Thomas Gardiner, of Gissing, Norfolk, who died v.p., i.e., before 8 Oct. 1391; by him she had an only daughter and heir, Joan, aged 2 and more in 1391, who died 15 December 1391: she married, 2ndly, Sir Thomas Gerberge, and was living 9 February 1411/2: she had no surviving issue. (2) Katherine, who died before 20 April 1401, being then wife of Robert Butveleyn, of Flordon, Norfolk; her son and heir, Sir Robert Butveleyn, of Flordon and Gissing, who died 22 March 1420/1, was father of William Butveleyn, of the same, who was an idiot, and was placed in the custody of his relations, 29 January 1451/2. Among the representatives (if any such exist) of the said Katherine, wife of Robert Butveleyn, any Barony of Felton, that may be supposed to have been created by the writ of 1313, is in abeyance: or, in default of such representatives, among those of (1) Mary, wife, 1stly, of Sir Edmund de Hemgrave (who died s.p.), and, 2ndly, of John Cursoun, of Bylaugh, Norfolk; and (2) Alianore, wife, 1stly, of Sir Robert d'Ufford, of Wrentham, Suffolk (who died s.p.m.). and, 2ndly, of Sir Thomas de Hoo, of Luton Hoo, Beds: the said Mary and Alianore being the only daughters of Sir Thomas de Felton, of Litcham (brother and heir male of the said Hamon de Felton), who left surviving issue.
