General Notes

The first known ancestor of this line was Adam de Aldithley, Audlegh or Aldithlega, so named from the paternal estate of Aldithlegh, in Normandy, who came over with William, the Conqueror, acquitting himself bravely on the field of Hastings, he was rewarded with large estates. His son Adam de Aldithley  accompanied his father to England.
