BIOGRAPHY: Andronicus Comnenus, son of Isaac, had been named co-emperor of the Byzantine Empire, also called the Eastern Roman Empire, in 1182.Andronicus' nephew Alexius II had been only 12 when his father died and he was named emperor. Agents of Andronicus had the boy strangled to death, and Andronicus became sole ruler. Andronicus was the killedby a mob in in 1185
