BIOGRAPHY OF PHEBE MANNING
Phebe was the daughter of George Manning, gentleman, of Downe, County Kent, England. She was probably born about 1575 in Kent. She married James Waters, an ironmonger of London, about 1600. The lived in St. Botolph, Aldgate in London and had several children, but only one who lived past childhood, Richard. Her husband died in early 1618, and she soon re-married, on February 18, 1618/19, William Plasse of the same parish, who called himself a gunmaker.
Her son Richard married William Plasse's daughter, Rejoice and both families moved to Salem in New England by 1637. The death of Phebe is not recorded in Salem.
