BIRTH: No proof exists on where Hugh was born yet exactly. Many Gordon/en relatives say that family tradition states he was from Aberdeen, Scotland. A note from William "Clyde" Gorden states he was b. at Gramercy Park, England however. I have searched thru the OPR of Scotland and have found no Hugh Gordon born to another Hugh (sometimes he was called Hugh Gordon Jr or Hugh Gordon II) for the right time period.
BURIAL: Grave at Gorden Farm, near Springfield, Washington Co, KY next to wife, Sarah Owens. Gravestone not there in 1908 when ? Gorden went out to visit the site. But Sarah's stone was. In 1925 on another return trip Sarah's stone was no longer standing.
Hugh probably b. ca 1735 at possibly Gl Scotland. His father was probably a Hugh or possibly a Joh n or Alfred (different sources)--most likely Hugh was the father's name. He worked his way ov er on a boat as an apprentice at the age of 12 or 15 yrs. He was was sometimes called "Hugh the Patriot" and "Hugh the Immigrant". Hugh's will is dated 27 Sep 1834.
