  s) JACOB WHIPKEY\John was born in Weissenburg, Germany, in about 1745. He and\
  his wife Elizabeth (Hurraw) arrived in 1770 from the Alsace-\Lorraine region of
  France/Germany on the ship Neptune (Capt.\John Mason) via Rotterdam, Holland a
  nd Cowes, England. They\first settled in Hagerstown MD, then Somerset County PA
  . He\was naturalized under the name "Johann Jacop Hipge" on 4 Oct\1772 at the
  Courthouse in Philadelphia, PA.  John died in Aug\1781 in Whipkey Cove, Bethel
  Townhip, Bedford County PA.\Elizabeth died in Sep 1820 in Somerset, PA.\Source

  to have lived in Somerset & Greene Counties in Pennsylvania, then some went to C
  alhoun County in West Virginia.\(2) Hubert Whipkey said John died in Hagerstown
  , Md.  I have not checked this information, yet.  He said the family came from t

  or of John Whipkey's estate and lists five sons: Abraham, John Jr., Henry, David
  (under fourteen) and George (under fourteen).\Estate docket, Bedford, Penn., 9
  Nov 1790, wife Elizabeth Executor, names five sons.\
