John RILEY 
John was born about 1716 in ,Prince Georges C, MD.1 He had four brothers and four sisters, named James, Samuel, Christian Burkett, Jeremiah, Mary, Ann, Rachel and Ellinor. He died in 1794 in St.Paul's Parish, Charlston Co, SC.1 General Notes

John the eldest son of Eliphaz and lived in Prince George's County MD until the creation of Frederick's Co after which they lived there. In the 1760's John an d his brother, Samuel Riley, and their families, moved to South Carolina. Ther e they received land grants authorized by an "Act of the General Assembly of t he Province". John settled in the Edgefield and Laurens CO. areas, and later in Charleston, while Samuel settled in Lauren and Charleston Counties. Not all of the children of John migrated with them. Several of the older children sta yed behind in Frederick Co., MD. where they produced their own branches of the RILEY's Meanwhile, in SC. the children of John and Samuel continued to swap land and prosper. When John died, in St. Paul's Parish in Charleston Co. SC , his brother Samuel was administrator of his estate.
