1ST EARL OF LEICESTER, LORD OF BEAUMONT, COMTE DE MEULAN
Robert supplied ships to William the Conqueror for the crossing to England and commanded soldiers on the right wing at the Battle of Hastings, 1066. He was made Earl of Leicester after the battle.
Robert became known for his wisdom as a counsellor to King Henry I. In his later years, he became a monk.
