Note: aka Rolf, Rollon, Rognvaldsson, Robert I, "Rolf the Ganger" of Norway, "Marching Rolf," "Rollo the Viking"
Rollo was a fierce Viking leader from Norway who raided and pillaged Scotland, England, Flanders and France. He and his Norsemen settled on the northern coast of France, in what became known as Normandy. In 911, under the treaty of St. Claire he officially received the lands of Normandy from King Charles III of France. Apparently, Rollo was baptised a Christian in 1912, yet reportedly died a pagan.
According to some sources Rollo killed his wife's father Berenger in a Viking raid on Bayeux.
