  David de Lindsay, 3rd Earl of Crawford, hereditary Sheriff of Aberdeenshire (a post which rema ined in the Lindsay family till the first half of the 16th century and which helped them maintain aquasi-independent status as princes); married c March1422/3 Marjory,daughter of Alexander Ogilvie of Auchterhouse; killed 17 Jan 1445/6 four days after being injured in an affray at Arbroath between the Lindsay's(led to victory by his son and heir) and his wife's relatives the Ogilvie's, despite his efforts to prevent it.
