  Rhoda, Edmond's 1st wife, was a daughter of William Cannifax who provided the bond for the marriage. On 11/13/1811, William Cannifax made his will and in the will he names 5 sons to whom he distributes land, 2 married daughters Nancy Williams and Rebecca Reynolds, 2 single daughters and a son-in-law Edmond Booz (sic) to whom he willed 18 shillings, clearly indicating that Rhoda had died some time before. (See Campbell Co., VA., Wills and Inventories, 1782-1847, p. 44-45. by William L. Hopkins) It is believed that she died abt 1808 and following herdeath Edmond left for Sumner Co., Tennessee.
