THE PARIS NEWS, (Date of obituary not available.) 'The body of F.B.
(Berg) Strother, resident of Lamar County since the close of the
Confedera te war, is being brought overland from Altus, Okla., where he
died at the hom e of his son, Richard Strother. The remains will be taken
to Maxey, where he resided, and the funeral is to be conducted Saturday
afternoon at 3:30 o'cloc k at the tabernacle at Hopewell cemetery, the
Rev. J.W. Milligan, Baptist min ister, a lifelong friend, having charge of
the service. The Masonic orders wi ll conduct the burial as Mr. Strother
had been a member of the Paris Commande ry, Knights Templar and worshipful
master of both the Tigertown and Sumner lo dges. Coming to Texas from
Missouri, Mr. Strother was married to Miss Lura Hu ddle, daughter of the
late William Huddle and she died some years ago. To the m were born six
children, the late Jim Strother; John Strother, Mrs. Linnie C loud, and
Mrs. Angie Hall, all of Maxey, Richard Strother and Mrs. Newt Burde n both
of Altus, Okla. He leaves also 11 grandchildren and four
greatgrandc hildren. Mr. Strother had engaged in farming in the Sumner and
Tigertown comm unities many years and had served as county commissioner
