Notes: LAMAR COUNTY ECHO Thu., Dec. 27, 1984. 'Mrs. Othella D. Nix , wife
of the late Lewis B. Nix, 70-30th NW, died at St. Joseph's Hospital at
11:32 p.m. Wed. Dec. 19. Graveside services were held Saturday, Dec. 22,
a t Evergreen Cemetery with Dr. James Semple and Dr. A.B. White
officiating. Fr y and Gibbs Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Mrs.
Nix was born Sept. 10, 1891, in Roxton, a daughter of G. W. Jack and Ada
Jones Jack. She attende d Roxton schools and married Lewis Nix on Sept.
12, 1909, in Roxton. They liv ed there until 1926 when they moved to
Paris. Mr. Nix was general agent for S outhwestern Life Insurance Co. here
for nearly 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and
taught Sunday School in the junior department fo r 30 years. Surviving are
one daughter, Mrs. T.L. (Juanita) Higgins of Paris; two grandchildren,
Richard Nix of Yuma, AZ. and Mrs. Susan Harris of Mesquit e; two great
grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Bonnie Belle Jack of Paris and Mrs.
Marie Dickson of Paris. She was preceded in death by two sons, Porter Ni x
in 1939 and Alton Nix in 1964'. *On the same stone with Lewis B. Nix.
