Mr. Megginson lived near Bent Creek, Buckingham Co., VA. Married the
daughter of John Goode No. 34 in Virginia Cousins. They left descendants
in Tennessee.
William Megginson bought 580 acres of land in the south side of James
River, (across from the present [1885] Greenway, P.O.) in 1739 of Mrs.
Elizabeth Cabell, (wife of Dr. Wm. Cabell, the ancestor of the Cabells of
Virginia, etc.; the Doctor was then in England). - In 1740, Mrs. Cabell
wrote to her husband in England, - "Please bring a saddle-cover and
furniture for Wm. Megginson's wife's side-saddle." In 1743, Capt. Wm.
Megginson "laid the levies" in the upper part of St. Ann's Parish; in
1747, he had 6 negroes among his tithables in that Parish. He entered for
a large body of land lying between Greenway and Bent Creek- was one of
his Majesty's Justices, and died about 1762. Children: -
