Immigrated 1 May 1662. In Virginia as indentured servant in 1647, had
two wives and ten known kids.
I, Nehemiah Covington of Somerset for many good causes and
considerations, appoint my well beloved wife Ann to be my true and lawful
Attorney for me and in my name to pass, receive, discharge, and release
and to take into her custody all and singular whatsoever I have at the
signing and sealing are possessed of both moveable and unmovable goods
and chattels or any other debts. (more of same) Signed and sealed 17
Jan 1679.
I, Nehemiah Covington give to wife Rebecca to have and enjoy my now
dwelling plantation with all lands contained during her lifetime. I give
to son Levin(?) Covington after death of my said wife my now dwelling
place forever. I give to son Levin my land in Dorchester Co called
Covington's Shame. I give to daughter Elizabeth Davis(?) my land called
(something). I give to daughter Priscilla my land called Codin
Adventure. I give to son Levin Covington one Negro. I give to daughter
Elizabeth Wailer my Negro boy. I give to daughter Priscilla 2 Negroes. I
give to daughter Katherine(?) Boyd 1 Negro. It is my will that all the
personal estate remain in possession of wife Rebecca. She to have the
profits thereof during her life and after her death, equally divided into
4 parts; one part to son Levin Covington, one part to daughter Sarah
Llyod, one part to daughter Eliazabeth Lecaules, and one part to daughter
Priscilla Covington. Any problems shall be decided by my brother Losin
Demmond, my brother Whit Wicks, my cousin George Gale, and my friend
Samuel Harington. I appoint wife ex. Signed 14 Feb 1711; probated 4 Jul
