Virginia is Harold Conn Murphy's cousin. She lives in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana now and worked at the Herald-Times when it was the Herald-Telephone with Allan Richard Murphy (Harold's son). She spent Sunday, 30 December 2001, visiting at our house when The Murphy Girls (Marilyn, Sue, and Carmen) came to celebrate Christmas. Virginia attended Winamac High School and then was graduated from Manchester College, Indiana. She married Albert Fiscus and called him Mr. Fiscus until he suggested that she no longer needed to address him as she would a teacher as he was now her husband. He was from Worthington, Indiana and they moved there when a music position opened up for him. "Ginnie" worked for the newspapers and the radio station where she composed the words for a ditty for the Bynum Office Supply Company in Bloomington. The ditty became a popular marching song for the Monroe County soldiers during WW II. During the war, Albert was stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. His work was classified; so Virginia can't tell us what it was he really did; though she thinks it wasn't anything as glorious as spying.
