Helen, the mother of Emperor Constantine, is mentioned in several trees as being of English origin as well as a descendant of the “Grail family”. However, according to a “Dictionary of Saints”, published in 1965: “It was long believed that the mother of Constantine the Great was a native of Britain; there is no historical justification for this belief: she was almost certainly born at Drepanum (Helenopolis) in Asia Minor, of lowly parentage.”
