Lazelle Werts
Silverstreet - Graveside services for Lazelle Fellers Werts, 94, of 27657
SC Hwy 34, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Silverstreet Lutheran Church
Cemetery with the Rev. Robert McMcCollum. The family will receive
friends in the Church Social Hall following the services. Memorials may
be made to Silverstreet Lutheran Church, PO Box 48, Silverstreet 29145.
Whitaker Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Werts died Friday, December 10, 1999 at Wesley Commons in
Greenwood. Born near Silverstreet, she was a daughter of the late Henry
T. and Mary Spearman Fellers. She taught school for over 43 years. She
taught for 3 years in South Carolina before going to North Carolina. She
taught for 27 years in Kannapolis, N.C. and 13 years in Silverstreet.
Mrs. Werts was a member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church and WELCA. She
was a member of Calvin Crozier Chapter of the UDC, a member of
Silverstreet Extension Homemakers Club, Newberry County Historical
Society and the Newberry County Retired Educator Association. She was
married to the late James D. Werts.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
