RESEARCH NOTES:
a fourteenth century manuscript gives Angharad ferch Meurig as wife of
Rhodri Mawr, and is the earliest known source to mention Angharad. Patrick
Sims-Williams has argued persuasively that Angharad is a late invention. The
same arguments apply to Rhodri's alleged mother Nest of Powys. Since Angharad
probably never existed, the supposed line of descent from the kings of
Ceredigion which has been traced through her is probably not valid. [Ref:
