‌Meriwether and Sarah were married in a religious ceremony on November 7th, 1796.  They had seven sons and three daughters, named William Payne, Meriwether, Granville Payne, George Washington, Samuel Hall, Thomas Jefferson, John Young, Letitia, Mary Ann Clark and Susanna Payne.
