‌John W. and Mary were married in a religious ceremony in 1827.  They had seven sons and five daughters, named Robert W., Thomas Martin, David Woodson, Drury Lilburn, George Tilman, Henry Clay, John Wilson, Zerelda Amanda, Lucy Frances, Mary Elizabeth, Nancy Catherine and Sarah Ann.
