Joel and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony in 1757. They had four sons and five daughters, named Nathaniel, Joel, Samuel, Parkes, Nancy, Mary, Elizabeth, Frances and Susanna.

Nathaniel was born on October 23rd, 1758 in Louisa Co., VA. He died at the age of 52 in 1810 in Kentucky.
