"THE DAMERON FAMILY IN A NUTSHELL"
The Dameron family were the Lords and Ladies of Henley Hall. They were among the aristocrcy that were driven out of the country during the British Civil War by Cromwell's armies. Lawrence Dameron refused to sign the oath of allegiance to the crown when he came. There are court records that show that Governor Berkely occupied George (1647-1698) Dameron's manor house during the Bacon Rebellion in Virginia. The Dameron's apparently did well once in America with land and property. Lawrence willed George and one of his brothers 250 acres each. The other children received much smaller inheritances. It seems that this was common that a couple of children were treated to greater parts of their parents estates among this family line. George's daughter Elizabeth Dameron (1681-1720) married into the Ingram line through Charles who was John's (1674-1720) brother.
