Edgar Moore CHARLES

Edgar Moore was born on April 26th, 1911 in Logansport, Cass County, IN.¹ He died due to Dermatomyositis-CA of Lung at the age of 65 on November 21st, 1976 in East Grand Rapids, Kent County, MI. His burial was on November 24th, 1976 in Section C 676, Grave #1, Rosedale Memorial Park, Ottawa County, MI.²

General Notes
- Edgar worked for many years as a "knitter" in various hosiery mills in Georgia, Texas and Michigan.
  
  It was while working at the Peerless Woolen Mills in Rossville, Georgia that he met Olivene. They were married twice. The first marriage took place November 1, 1930. That marriage ended in divorce July 8, 1933. The second marriage took place November 6, 1936 and lasted until Edgar died in 1976. Between the two marriages, Olivene married Thomas FRAZIER and had a son by that marriage.
  
  Edgar moved his wife and her son, Tom, to Texas in 1937 and it was there that Edgar and Olivene's son, Donald, was born 7/1941. Edgar moved his family to Michigan in 1941 shortly after the start of WWII. The family lived with Edgar's mother and step-father on a farm in Bangor, MI for a SHORT time while Edgar looked for work in Grand Rapids. Work was soon found at the now defunct Globe Knitting Company located on Commerce St.
  
  Some time before 1949, a decision was made to close the Globe Knitting Company in Grand Rapids. As a result, Edgar found work with Reliable Cartage Company. He started work at Reliable as a truck driver and was ultimately promoted to Safety Director of the company, the position that he held at the time of his retirement.
