  • Registered on Birth Certificate as Ben Gersham Charlton b, 6th February 1857 New Town, Geelong, Victoria.
    His mother previousley had a daughter Thomasina Phoebe Gahan in Geelong, Victoria in 1854 .
    The Thomasina Phoebe Gahan Birth Certificate lists Benjamin Gahan as her Father.
    By the time of his marriage in 1880 Ben Gersham Charlton was known as Ben Gahan, he married as Ben Gahan and listed Ben Gahan as his Father on his Marriage Certificate.
    He listed Eliza Collingwood as his Mother.
    Interesting to note that in William Dixon Collingwoods Will of 1846 he refers to Benjamins Mother, Eliza Elizabeth Collingwood as "daughter Eliza Elizabeth Collingwood now Charlton".
