    Joseph McCotter had 2 wives, 9 children by each wife. John was the last child
    of his 2nd wife. Joseph was 72 yrs. old when John was born, his wife was 39 yers old.
    John was 18 months old when his mother died, he was 9 yrs old when his father died. He
    was raised by his sister, Bette Saunders and her husband Seth. Bette and Seth had
    one son of their own, Seth Jr. The only other known family of John are brothers Joseph Jr.,
    Charles, Wiley and 2 brothers killed in Civil War.
    
    Very little is known of John Delamar and Sarah Paris before their marriage.
    They had 5 children, Bette, Annie, Gertrude, Dawson and William. Bette and Annie died young.
    Bette never married. Annie died giving birth to a child, who also died. John Delamar died at
    47 yrs. of age, due to an accident. Sarah was left to take care of the farm and raise
    Gertrude, Dawson and William. Sarah died at age 77.
    John McCotter and Gertrude Delamar married in 1898. They had 7 children. Bertha, Wiley, Daisy, Sadie, Nellie, Evelyn and Blanche.
    Bertha died at the age of 4 from Malaria Fever. Wiley died at age 17 from complications from diptheria.
    John joined the Lighthouse Service in 1916.
