Willem was born in 1829 in Saint Martin.  Willem's father was Johannes Willem Van Romondt and his mother was Judith Rink Tielenius (Kruythoff). He had five brothers and five sisters, named John, Philogene, Thomas, Everhardus, Vincent, Sarah, Anna, Susan, Judith and Juliette Isabel.  He was the second oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 68 in 1897 in Saint Martin.
