Mario was born in 1925 in Aruba.  Mario's father was Eustachius Flanegin and his mother was María Marcelina Vrolijk. He had eight brothers and eight sisters, named Juan, Lourens, Jan, Cajus, Domingo, Pedro, Ciriaco, Teolindo, Cecilia, Sarafina, Petrona, Christina, Clemance, Maria, Ruperta and Wilhelmina.  He was the second youngest of the seventeen children.  He died at the age of 4 in 1929 in Aruba.
