Ernest was born on February 14th, 1888.  Ernest's father was William Strutt and his mother was Louisa Creasey.  His paternal grandparents were William Strutt and Emma Jane Lenham. He had two brothers and three sisters, named William (Willie), Alfred, Lousia (Etty), Nellie and Julia.  He was the third oldest of the six children. He had a half-brother named Frederick.  He died at the age of 93 in 1981.
