Sarah Bennett of Cumberland Co., Va., "out of the love and good will that I do bare unto my beloved daughter Mary Bennett and William Bennett and John Bennett my two sons . . . do by these presents, at the time of my death give, grant and confirm unto my children aforesaid to be delivered unto them at the time of my death, by an equal diviision, L79 current money and my third part or dower of Rice Bennett my Dec'd husbands estate, also three cows and calves and one negro girl named Jenny of my own purchase with all their future increase, both of cattle and slave to be equally devided among my said three children at the time of my death or the survivors of either of them if dead, and their heirs. Witnesses: Joseph Starkop - G. Carrington Jr. On 25 Oct., 1773, 'a deed of gift from Sarah Bennett to her daughter Mary Bennett and William Bennett and John Bennett her two sons was proved by witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded."
