R' Matisyahu Trevis

R' Matisyahu's father is R' Yosef Hagodol Tzorfasi-Treves. His paternal grandparents are R' Yochanan Ashkenazi Trevis and <Unknown>. He is an only child.

General Notes
- 1335-1385? or 1325-1387?; Described in Rivash 270 (see also 268-272). Came to France where there were only five or six lamdonim and he created a Yeshiva which produced eight Roshei Yeshiva... Charles V required all Jews to wear a yellow cloth except for R' Mattisyahu.

R' Matisyahu's occupation was Rov of Paris; Chief rabbi of France.
