Mary was born in August 1811 in Stonham Aspall, Suffolk and was baptised on August 27th, 1811. Mary's father was James Bridges and her mother was Hannah Davie. Her paternal grandparents were James Bridges and Elizabeth Scott; her maternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>. She was the oldest of four children. She had three brothers named Samuel, Benjamin and John.
