This feudal baron had divers summonses to attend the king, Henry III, in his wars with the Welsh and, adhering faithfully to that monarch against Simon de Montfort and the revolted barons, he was amply rewarded by grants of land and money from the crown. He was s. at his decease by his son, William Boteler.”
