    Kevin James Kleiner, age 41 of Auburn, was born in Waukegan, Illinois on December 1, 1969 and passed away on June 1, 2011 at Grayton Beach, Florida.
    
    He had a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign, and a M.S. in Forestry and Wildlife Sciences from Auburn University. He was employed as a research associate in GIS applications at Auburn University School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, Alabama Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit.
    
    Kevin was an avid ice hockey player throughout his childhood and during college. He was known for his passion for cooking and was an exceptional chef. While at Auburn, he became an enthusiastic gardener, avid walker, and advocate of green energy.
    
    Kevin was always an adoring husband and father.
    
    He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Carol Johnston, his two beautiful girls, Sipsey Grace Kleiner and Abbott Lucile Kleiner, his parents Tom and Lynette Kleiner, his sister Kim Cortright, and his brother Darren Kleiner. He also had great affection for his two terriers, Huckleberry and Drinker.
    
    He attended Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. CST, at 100 Church Drive, Auburn, Alabama. A reception celebrating his full and joyous life will be held in the parish hall following the service.
    
    To honor Kevin, spend a day walking to your destination instead of driving.
