Yigal's father was Yaakov Zvi Ziffer and his mother was Henna Yente Ziffer.  His paternal grandparents were Ziffer and ? ?.  He was the eighth of ten children.  He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Yehuda, Shalom Yoseph, Yona, Shelomo, Israel, Mordecai, Eli, Faige Ita and Miriam Chaya.
