Mary was born on October 5th, 1852.  Mary's father was William Gye and her mother was Sophie Keyte.  Her paternal grandparents were <Unknown> and Ann; her maternal grandparents were Keyte and Hester.  She was the third of four children.  She had three brothers named James, William and <Unknown>.
