He passed away at the age of 99, just three months shy of his 100th birthday, on March 16, 2005. He was laid to rest at the Alcola Trinity Cemetery. At the time of his passing, the Leader Times newspaper said he was survived by 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Robert Jay Bish Sr., 99, of McKinley Health Center, Brookville, formerly of 8191 Route 28, Mayport, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in the McKinley facility. Born June 8, 1905, in Alcola, Clarion County, he was the son of James W. and Maggie A. Shick Bish. Mr. Bish worked as a coal miner. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church of Fairmount City and the Shannondale Grange.
Mr. Bish first was married June 30, 1926, to Nellie Minerd, who preceded him in death. He then was married Sept. 30, 1937, to Rebecca Betty Reade, also deceased. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Slagle of Fort Myers, Fla., Bettie Miles of Distant, Mrs. Robert (Beverly) Hetrick of
New Bedford and Mrs. Denny (Rhonda) Slagle of Fairmount City; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Bish was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; 12 brothers; one sister; two sons, Robert Jay Bish Jr. and Roger Bish; three daughters, Gloria McCoy, Monte Pearl Bish and Lynda Slagle; two grandchildren, Robert Miles Jr. and Jeff McCoy; and onegreat-grandchild.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday andfrom noon to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Alcorn Funeral Home, Hawthorn. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home
with Pastor Randy Evans, hospice chaplain of the Clarion-Forest Visiting Nurses Association, officiating.
Interment will be in Alcola Trinity Cemetery.
