Péter was born on July 12th, 1810 in Ekecs and his christening took place there conducted by minister Csóka József (aranyosi nemes Csóka József).  His godfather was Koch János and his godmother was Mátis Zsuzsanna. Péter's father was Beke Gergely and his mother was Ádám Éva.  His maternal grandparents were Ádám Péter and Takács Judit. He had three brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Péter, halva született, Gergely, Julianna, Erzsébet and halva született.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven known children.
